Product Description
One of the major problems faced by ESL or non-native speakers of English throughout the world is that when they go to high school, college or university, they often find themselves without sufficient academic literacy skills to enable them to navigate their learning successfully, such as the ability to select important information and be able to summarize it concisely in continuous prose. Using ESL first year science students at the University of Botswana as a research group, this book examines the strategies they use for summarizing textual material. In particular, it looks at the cognitive and meta-cognitive strategies the…

I have just passed level 2 NCEA, no endorsements.
I have UE literacy(4 reading, 4 writing @ Level 2 up) and numeracy (8 maths @ level 1 up)
In level three I am taking Economics, Accounting, Statistics and Modeling, AS and US English (Mixed, all internal) and Media Studies.
I have been described as a “solid student” by various teachers with much more potential than I am applying to my work.
So a majority of my grades are achieved – merit, excellence and not achieved are a rarity.
I also have a focus on extra curriculr activities, next year will be my second year in…

Currently, I am a freshman. Penn is my dream college, and I would like to be evaluated on all the following, hopefully by someone who has been accepted to Penn already.
-I got into my current high school, a private college prep school, with honors (I got over a 90% on the HSPT). I also received early placement in Honors Geometry and Honors English 9. So like basically, at my graduation from junior high, I got an overall…

I am a Canadian teacher and I am teaching at a University in Colombia, my students are very frustrated with the English language at the moment, as they believe everything is pronounced completely differently from how it is spelt. I would like to teach them phonetics and though I have experience explaining phonetics to children, does anyone have an idea as to the best way to begin with university students?
