INTRODUCTION
Education, is a modern word, which is derived from the Latin word ‘educase’, means to nourish, to cause to grow (Patel: 1991 : viii). Education also prevails in illiterate societies, where it is imparted orally and by mass behavior. A member of primitive society learns to earn his livelihood, to do good works, to obey spiritual beings and also superstitions etc from the elders of the society and bind by its laws and regulations. These are the education for them. We the modern people do mean “education as reading and writing. This is also true. By modern education a person…

perhaps, at my age, i should be able to decide for myself, but sometimes, decisions are not so easy. the job is straight literacy in a public school- that is my field of expertids-i work in a children’s ste facility teaching all subjects, and i like it. public ed. pays a lot more, but as we all know, tenure is political, no matter how good you are, and at 58, i don’t think it would be easy to find a job like i have. well, perhaps, i’ve answered my own question, unfortunately, i am that age and even with my…

History
Truman State University was founded in 1867 by Joseph Baldwin as the First Missouri Normal School and Commercial College. Baldwin was considered a pioneer in education, and his school quickly gained official recognition in 1870 by the Missouri General Assembly, which designated it as the first public teaching college in Missouri.

public school- and I;ve been offered the position. It pays more, and the job is exactly what I’ve ben educated to do, but… should they not give me tenure, which is a real possibility no matter how hard I work and how good my performance, then in 3 yrs. I’m without a job. I’m married and my husband does well, but I need the income of a career- I do like what I do- and I think at my age, as long as I’m somewhat satisfied, I should stick with the sure thing. Any thoughts?

Delta Sigma Theta. My grades are great, I just ended a semester at Schoolcraft CC with a 3.0. So I’m not really worried about that. However, I have very little Community Service time. I do volenteer at my mothers job(she a head-start teacher). I work as a teahers aide. Also in high shcool I was a part of literacy program that tutored 2nd graders. But I want to know if there is anyway I can add more service while I’m in school and pledge at the same time? I really want to be a DST Diva!

They in DC have murder rate sky high and math proficiency of high school students dead last in the nation and literacy second from the bottom.
This is what happens under Federal Government administration. And what will happen to the bankrupt liberal State of California? That’s right, Federal receivership. Actually dictator Hussein cannot wait it to happen.
Welcome to the wonders and realities of inner city Washigton DC, my dear California liberals.

I need documentation that reading anything is quite good for developing literacy.
“Calvin & Hobbes”, is a wonderful piece of literature that develops thinking skills & expands a child’s vocabulary. Alas teach will not consider that “Calvin & Hobbes” is good for child, instead insisting he MUST read 3rd grade level FL Sunshine State books.
Boy finds the Sunshine State books tedious, (h*ll, I do too), & he is not being tested on what he reads, he is only required to read 20 minutes per day.
What documentation is out there showing reading anything is good for a child; & for developing literacy…
