I know it used to be when I went…now it seems like no one knows how to spell anything. Actually, it used to be called “grammar school” when I went, now there doesn’t seem to be the same emphasis on grammar and literacy.

Looking at the terrible level of some people’s literacy on this site i wonder if many of them are pre school.
It’s scary if they are adults. What are your thought? Is it just laziness, porr teaching, endemic dyslexia? I don’t know. But some people just seem incapable of making any sense in the written form of the language.
I was just reading a question on here where a lady is talking about educating her children at home. It seems like a very good idea. It seems to me that many people are just not taught the basics in written communication. Perhaps…

A lot of people seem to forget how to spell and use grammar when they get on the internet.
People use the letter “U” when the proper word is you.
The usage of abbreviations that do not even exist such as w/o, I think it means without or b/c, I think it means because. These are not acceptable abbreviations because they are not in any dictionary or thesaurus.
Another pet peeve of mine is the usage of your when they mean you are, your is a possessive word, while you are is part of a atatement.

When looking at questions, i can’t help but notice the people who post answers that have a dig at the askers spelling. When someone is asking for help on something, i find it irritating when some people, obviously have nothin better do, post back something like brush up on your literacy skills etc!!! Am i the only one who finds this annoying? Some people want 2 ri lyk this cos its easier yet i find you write like this and people have digs at it what with that? what are your views? p.s i know this is random lol

I am a teacher who teaches 4th grade but am stuck. I have a wonderful student is trying very hard in literacy. She has grown a ton in reading, but spelling still continues to be struggle. Does anyone know of a spelling software program that really works? Please no ads, I just want what works if any teachers or parents know of something. We use Sitton & Spelling, but that doesn’t seem to work well.
