…and their locations on a map? Unfortunately, school culture and testing mandates downplay social studies and science content area insruction. I have to teach these areas when I can or make it a component of my math or literacy curriculum.
I have a special ed class of 2nd graders. What’s a good and meaningful approach to teach this social studies concept? At some point, I also want to teach states and capitals (even though this is not a direct component of the curriculum/IEP goals) but children nowadays lack the basics in their education. Thanks.

I’m a teacher who will be starting an after school literacy club. We will be reading books, and incorporating different literacy skills like vocabulary, comprehension, story elements, etc. into each book we read. Any ideas on some fun names for my club? I’ll have 2 different clubs – one for 2nd and 3rd graders, and one for 4th and 5th graders. I’m having a hard time coming up with anything but “Book Worms” and “Hooked on Books” So if there are any ideas out there please share! Thanks!
