roots of public schooling ( common school movement, horace mann and complusory schooling-one reason for public schooling being mass education would create a better democracy, ) to the downfall of public schooling? How have these supposed good intentions lead to the absolute downfall of this system? My thought is that these intentions couldn’t have been so very pure if we are where we are today. Literacy was way higher in colonial America where homeschooling was generally the manner of teaching. Your opinion and insight are much appreciated.
