10 reasons why public school is better than homeschool. –
1. Most parents were educated in the under funded-public school system, and so are not smart enough to homeschool their own children.
2. Children who receive one-on-one homeschooling will learn more than others, giving them an unfair advantage in the marketplace. This is undemocratic.
3. How can children learn to defend themselves unless they have to fight off bullies on a daily basis?
4. Ridicule from other children is important to the socialization process.
5. Children in public schools can get more practice “Just Saying No” to drugs, cigarettes and alcohol.
6. Fluorescent lighting may…

Product Description
This is a revolutionary phonics system for teaching children to read. It will also be effective in teaching reading to illiterate or semi-literate adults. The author is a reading expert who home-schooled her own seven children. She used every available phonics system, and found them all wanting. She realised that 30 per cent of children are left behind by traditional phonics systems. She found that children are quick to use number clues to identify the different sounds of each letter. By tagging the letters with a number, she prompts the student to recall the specific sound of this letter.…

I saw a clip today on CBS on which a homeschooling mom said she uses the Thomas Jefferson method. http://www.cbsnews. com/sections/ i_video/main5002 51.shtml? id=3917028n
I’d say that we are somewhere between unschooling and eclectic homeschoolers; I have never focused too much on “method” and so am unfamiliar with this.
I’m very curious. What exactly is the Thomas Jefferson Method?
In the video clip, the woman says you can get a child from pre-literacy to high school level in 100 hours.
How is this possible?
Is it too late to utilize this method with a teen?
Thanks! :)

Hmm apparently I’m not the only one…

I get interviewed a lot.
Perhaps once a week, I get interviewed (No joke).
My problem is that I get asked the same questions over and over again.
So just to break the monotony, I give them the silliest answers.
Let me share with you one interview today.
Despite the jokes, I’m sure you’ll pick up something for your own personal growth. Here it is…
Q: Brother Bo, we’re going to ask you some very basic questions.
Bo: No problem. You wouldn’t know if my answers would be correct anyway, right?
Q: (Laughs) When and where were you born?
Bo: July 11, 1966 in Caloocan City. Or was that…
