Say goodbye to that dusty chalkboard. Today’s students are comfortable with digital technology and adapting quickly to it in the classroom. In a recent study on tools that are changing the classrooms, Interactive White Boards ranked as one of the most useful tools to enhance learning. One teacher writes, ‘One year after having my interactive white board, I can definitely notice an increase in attention and participation levels for my high school students. The interactive whiteboards helps focus their attention on me and my lessons and helps keep them focused.”

Does anyone have any guidelines or ideas for activities (specific) for the students while we are there. This is the first time this bank is having a class visit and we are developing a curriculum. All our field trips have to be standards-based and I want to incorporate our standards for math (identification and exchange of money) and social studies (personal spending literacy and producers/consumers). literacy is something we take for granted here in canada. we don’t believe that someone who lives in canada can’t read or write or have basic knowledge. we believe that does who can’t read or write are immigrants who never got a chance to go to school. but according to International Adult Literacy and statistics canada 37% of native-born canadians have low literacy. this low literacy levels has a major affect on canadian economy.

I just accepted a 1st grade teaching position and will be a first year teacher. I’ve had A LOT of experience in Kindergarten and 2nd grade+, but none in 1st grade. I’m honestly a little intimidated by the transition from kindergarten (I’m filling in for a teacher now) to 1st. I want to do as much prep. as I can and would absolutely love suggestions of what books/websites/etc. I should turn to. Specifically for 1st grade. Thanks!
In response to the first, I know I can’t. I want to be well informed of different approaches and intervention strategies (that type of…
