Students using reciprocal teaching activities to improve their understanding of a passage of narrative text. Reciprocal teaching strategies support adolescent literacy skills development by helping to create a dialog between students and teacher about a passage of text. Both the students and teacher take turns acting as the instructor and asking text comprehension questions. The program being used in this example is SRA Read to Achieve – a middle school and high school literacy intervention program from SRA/McGraw-Hill.
