One enterprising lady who recently decided to retire to Thailand is saving diligently to sponsor a beachside home in her dream location and expressed the desire to spend her final days in the ‘Land of Smiles’ and eventually when she dies to be wrapped in a sail and gently floated out to sea in a candlelit ceremony! Baby boomers, along with everyone else, receive a warm welcome in Thailand and the retired American community has expanded in recent years, prompting the Thai government to consider various affordable financial facilities for Americans wishing to buy their own property.
Thailand is proud of…

If you are already aware of the benefits of sign language, you are probably interested in new ideas to use in the classroom with students or at home with your child. It can be simple and fun to include new ideas into your already established daily routine. With the weather cooling down, it is clear that the Fall season is approaching. Children have fun learning about their world and the things they are seeing and doing, so it would be great to use signs for words they are seeing or using regularly during each season.
Apples are plentiful in the Fall,…

Your Baby Can Read! is an early language development program designed to teach your baby how to read. The testimonials posted by the maker of the product are excellent. We can see babies identifying what is written on the cards. They can point to the body parts or items that are written on the cards. It looks like a very good program. In this article we are going to state what we learned about the product.
First of let’s get to what you actually get when you order it. You will get a 5 DVD set with sliding cards for each. You…

As an experienced parent of 6 children and grandparent of eight, I’m really skeptical l about any product that claims to teach your baby to read. It seems like the proven method of teaching reading ability to your child has always been to start reading to them at an early age, and then introducing them to phonics.
WHOLE WORD RECOGNITION
I recently saw a product “Your Baby Can Read” on an As Seen On TV spot. It’s unique in that it’s the first reading program combining videos, flash cards, books and other aids specifically designed to help teach infants and toddlers how…

The early years of parenting are the most difficult and trickiest part in any parents’ life. It is the most important too, as the bonding that occurs between parent and child at these early stages play a crucial role in the relationship for years to follow. Understanding your infants’ needs can be most frustrating, as crying is just about the only communicational skill an infant is capable of, until they learn to speak. The art of interpreting their wails and moans and figuring out their needs can be very difficult and complicated.
Babies attempt communication as early as their fetal…

In my early days managing my real estate agency we used to have a client who was an Aussie ex pat living in South America. He once signed off an email to me with âadiosâ (Spanish for goodbye). Not wanting to be outdone, I started my next email to him with the only Spanish word I knew that wasnât a type of food – âholaâ (hello).
My client was impressed and let me know this in his next email. It was then that I got my courage up and found a great little way of making myself stand out on…

Baby boomers have been raised on tales of their fathers’ and grandfathers’ experiences of wartime England and some of the stories of the warmth of English hospitality and the good old English pub scene are by no means exaggerated. There is nowhere quite like England when it is the height of summer and the strawberries are in season: lunch on the lawn under the Chestnut tree; cricket teas; village fairs.
England is certainly all of this and more but there are some drawbacks to English life, not the least of which is the weather which can cast a damp pall over…

Mental development is measured by a child’s ability to read, and it’s a concern for most parents. Many of us simply expect a child to eventually develop literacy skills, without setting specific goals to this end. However, what happens when the development of these desirable abilities does not proceed at the optimal rate, if left simply to chance? What happens if a child starts school with a reading deficiency, instead of a desired proficiency?
Thus you shouldn’t be surprised by the interest generated by a system like “Your Baby Can Read.”
Developed by language professor Dr. Robert Titzer, the program takes…

Babies have been learning to read for more time than we know of. In the decade, thousands of folks the world over have been teaching their babies to read. It is easy to do and takes little time.
It is vital to point at the words as you read them. Although you might imagine your baby isn’t concentrating, your baby is spotting the written word and its patterns. Through continued reading and text pointing, your baby is making associations between the words on the page and the words you are saying.
Babies are able to learn how…
