We believe metaphors bring to mind concepts that stimulate thought and action.
Often taught as a pedagogical concept in most high school English classes, a metaphor “is the direct verbal equation of something unknown with something known, so that the unknown may be explained and made clear”. Metaphors are typically linked to the “poetic imagination and the rhetorical flourish” (Lakoff & Johnson, 1980, p. 3), and many people— due to the literary and poetic nature of metaphors— perceive these figures of speech as beyond their means for interpretation and understanding.

Finding the time to sit down and read aloud with our children is difficult. Evenings are often packed. We get home late from work or activities with the kids. We need to make dinner, help with homework and get our children to sleep. We deserve a little time to ourselves to do email, watch a favorite TV program or chat with our partner. However, by not sticking read aloud in to the family routine, we are missing out on an opportunity to facilitate our child’s life long literacy.

I love teaching/speaking and talking about financial literacy. I DO NOT want to become a financial planner or a investment salesperson. Being financial literate involves more than just “investing”. I also studied finance in colleage and I volunteer on weekends teaching financial literacy courses.
I hope to write a book before the year is over as well as create other info products(CD’s, budgeting software,etc…….) I also want to become a paid speaker and speak at colleages and universities and provide telesiminars and workshops, coaching, etc………
