I`m to be a junior next year in highschool and I think I should improve my vocabulary. I know a considerable amount of good words, but I want to know more. Where should I start?
Also, on WCKE and state tests I tend to score lower on reading than I ought to for an advanced student.
You can say, “Well, just read more,” but I don`t know how to begin. How can I improve my reading skills, too?

Is anyone else doing the Ontario Literacy Test in a week? I’m pretty nervous right now….my teacher said you have to follow instructions very strictly (if it asks for 3 points, you can’t give 2, and you can’t give 4), and that if the person marking your test can’t read your writing, then they’ll fail you…Is this true? Because I have extremely messy handwriting…
Also, if anyone has any tips or suggestions, they would be appreciated. Thanks

I am at a summer enrichment camp. I am trained in elementary education. This summer I was hired to teach literacy to 1st-4th grade everyday. That is fine. Then they added 5th-8th grade literacy on as well. So now I teach 1st-8th grade everyday. All of the other classes are great except for 7th/8th.
Today they would not participate, they are not interested in anything other than talking to each other. If you want a good example of what the class environment feels like, think of Dangerous Minds.
On top of it all, I also have 2 children with severe special needs.

I’ve been a volunteer ESL teacher for two organizations already. What’s the fastest route to becoming a paid ESL teacher in NYS? What are the minimum requirements to teach? Where should I take courses? I scoured the internet for information already but I can’t seem to find a clear answer.
Thanks so much for your help!
