Add on top of that a moral code in the form of silly stories some of which are to be taken literally others as a metaphor, and what have you got?

ever since elementary school, I’ve always been a scanner: read things as fast as you, even if it sacrificed my comprehension.
I’m really good at vocab and context clues and stuff, so it isn’t a matter of me not understanding the words
I feel like I’m missing a lot comprehension-wise. do you think my problems stems from not reading every word? should I read slower and intake everything?
if I do read slower and comprehend more, how long do you think it’ll take to get faster?

Are there any good books, CDS, DVDS, computer programs, etc. that could help me accomplish this? I read music and know some basic theory, but I want to know more.
