A Question for Real Vampires?

First, I am not trying to piss anyone off with this question. I am honestly curious.

I’ve been on this website a lot lately because I’m studying it as part of a class on literacy, and I love horror movies and books, so naturally I am drawn to the questions about anything related to vampires. Sometimes it just to poke fun at the Twilight kids.

There are a lot of questions out there where people who obviously ascribe to the pop-culture version of what vampires are shoot out questions about how they’re “looking for real vampires” and possibly asking to chat with them or even be changed into one.

There are quite a few people who respond with, “You’re dumb, there’s no such thing,” and then some that identify themselves as real vampires.

Research has shown that this is quite an active community. For the purposes of keeping this short, I just want to ask:

1. When did you start identifying yourself as a vampire?
2. What physical symptoms do you exhibit and how do you feed your craving? What happens when you don’t?
3. Why does your community continue to use the word vampire to describe yourselves, when there are so many stigmas attached to that word? Why do your websites have pictures of ankhs and the backgrounds are all black and red if you’re trying to get away from those stereotypes?

I would really appreciate some good discussion here, I am trying to understand in order to investigate my own prejudice on this subject.

Any advice please as how to get support to ship/transport donated computers from UK to Uganda.?

Action to Support Orphans and Disadvantaged (ASOD) Uganda started in 2004 May, as a grassroots charity. On the 26th July 2005 the organization was officially mandated by the laws of Uganda to be a local non-government organization (NGO) working within slum areas of Kampala , with its head office at Kyebando central. The organization came into existence as the first pioneering organization to deal with the plight of kids and community orphaned by the pandemic. ASOD has propelled the initiative of HIV AIDS research work in Ugandan and other development work for social transformation of orphan societies. The organization works are supported by the community services and the management of the organization.

The computers donation is meant for the Millennium College School (Orphans Computer Literacy Project). The project will enable the students and community to enquire computer skills that can empower them to be self reliant. Any adive that enable us ship the computers will be nice.

Is INDEPENDENT completion of homework assignments out of vogue, or am I just antiquated? ?

Something has really caught my attention since becoming a member of Yahoo Answers and I am somewhat troubled by what I am seeing. As some of you may know, the USA is near the bottom of academic ratings among progressive countries.

WORLD EDUCATION RANKINGS
UNICEF rankings of educational systems in the world’s richest countries, indicating the percentage of 14 and 15 year olds scoring below a minimum level in literacy, math and science.

Although these rankings may have changed a bit over the past few years, the USA continues to lag behind sorrowfully in it’s educational standing with dropout rates on the rise.

My concern then is in regard to the plethora of questions posed on this forum by both high school and college students who obviously have NOT completed homework assignments: reading books, math, research papers, interviews, etc. Although during my 13 years of higher education, I graduated near or at the top of my class, I never figured out how to inculcate the necessary material while foregoing the homework.

Realizing that I am old (40-50ish), am I just simply outdated in my thought and are internet forums and so on todays standard for homework completion? There is no way to deny some of the advantages of group homework completion; however, my concerns remain. In my day, asking someone else for the answers was simply called cheating, if caught there were serious consequences. Today, it seems to be the norm!

College or Sixth Form? And grades?

I’m doing my GCSE’s, and I’m in Year 11. I’m wondering which would be better. My parents think staying in school (Sixth Form) is best, because my brother did and he went to University after, and did well in it.

Most kids go to college, but I hear most of them aren’t really serious and just burnouts who prefer to fk around. I hear college lecturers don’t really care, either, they just leave you to your own devices – which sounds good, but I’m the sort of person who needs pushing and motivation. (I may be stereotyping, but I’ve never been to a college, so clear things up if I’m wrong)

I want to go to University, so I’m mostly looking at A-Levels as I’m not the most practical worker ever and I find research and theory easier to do, the college in my city offers A-Levels, too, with some good courses on offer as I’m looking at Law, Politics & Government, Theology, and Psychology, as potential subjects, I’m hoping to three of those subjects for A-Levels.

From what I’ve said, does Sixth Form actually sound most likely better for me? And is college actually better than what I’ve heard, from anyone with personal experience? Which is better for university?

Also. I’m doing around seven GCSE’s (English, Maths, Double Science, ICT, Rural Studies, History and RE) + A BTEC in Rural Studies, which I plan to finish Distinction* which is the equivilant four C-A* grades, and I’m doing an Adult Literacy and Numeracy test, which if I pass, is worth a B. I’m aiming to get at least two or three A-A* grades in my main GCSE’s. (History/RE/ICT)

So, anyway, that’s around 12 GCSE’s in total. I realize Maths and English are important for University, I could possibly get an A or B in English, but I’m absolutely sh*t at Math (I’m better at words and paragraphs than numbers and equations), I’ll most likely only get a D. Is it true that you need at least a D to resit Maths in Sixth Form, or something?

PLEASE HELP WITH MUTUAL FUNDS!!?

I have a Financial Literacy Class essay to write, in which you have 100,000 dollars to spend on investments, one stock and one mutual fund. I have already finished the stock portion, because I understand stocks very well…
Mutual funds on the other-hand… I don’t get. I understand that they are basically a way of investing in a bunch of stocks in one category, but I have no idea how to find them, research them, tell if they are a good investment, or how to find out what category they are in.
If you could recommend one, or just explain that to me, it’d be great.

Also, explain why you think your choices would be good investments for their retirement.

A few questions for the Lebanese?

I have been assigned your country to research for a college course. I have a few questions and would really appreciate your help. I don’t need real long answers or anything. Thanks

2. How do people greet each other –(shake hands, bow, embrace, other)?
3. As a visitor to the country, would you exchange gifts at the first meeting? What gifts are considered appropriate? If flowers, what kind?(Some have special meanings.)
4. How are children educated? At what age do they begin school? Do boys and girls generally go to separate schools, or are they separated by sex in the same school? Do they usually wear uniforms?
5. What is the literacy rate for the country?
6. How is garbage collection dealt with?
7. What is the normal dress for men and women?
8. What foods, if any, are generally not eaten or possibly considered taboo?
9. Are there gestures or movements that would not be acceptable in polite society?
Thank you all very much for your answers. They were very detailed and helped a lot. Some of these questions were kind of silly, i didn’t really understand the question about gifts either. Q1 was background info about the interviewee but I didn’t want to ask about anything personal. With all the research I’ve done on Lebanon it seems like a fine place to visit or live. Unfortunately here in America, many people are ignorant (mostly the media and government) so there is a bias on a country considered “Muslim” or Arabic. Hopefully things change someday down the road. I have to research about, the living conditions and the opportunities individuals have to achieve economic prosperity in life. Consider issues like opportunities for education and levels of literacy, opportunities to participate in the political and economic sectors, the type of family structure and marriage patterns that are common, types of employment that are available, the overall level of health and access to health care, life expectancy, and issues of hunger and malnutrition

For the past twenty years, an epidemic of great proportions has been spreading throughout America. In today’s rapid moving and technologically progressed society, fast food restaurants conquered every corner of a major street intersection, while television and computers found their way into every home, office, and classroom. Young children are born and raised in the culture where the definition of a healthy meal has been replaced with burger and fries, while watching TV, surfing the net, and playing video games have become top hobbies on every kid’s list. Excess eating and lack of exercise are the primary causes of sedentary lifestyle both in children and teens. According to US Surgeon General, 15% of adolescence is considered overweight, tripling since 1980 (Evers). In order to stop this epidemic from spreading even farther, both parents and school officials need to work together to promote and utilize a plan for healthier meals, more physical involvement, and health literacy that will improve children’s social and physiological mind set of a better and healthier lifestyle.

Why believe in Christianity?

I have done a lot of research and I dont believe in a “god” or a spiritual being. The fact of the matter is, I think bible is just a astrotheological literacy hibrid, just like all other religons before it.
The christian relegion is based off of pagan religions before it. The egyptian book of the dead was around for thousands of years before the ten commandments yet it seems the ten commandments are exactly the same.
I have not stolen — Thou shall not steal
I have not killed — thou shall not kill
I have not told lies — thou shall not bear false witness
and so on.
Baptism, afterlife, judgement, virgin birth, crucifiction, circumcision, saviors, communion, Great flood, Easter, Passover. Sounds like Christianity right? I am actually talking about atributes bellowing to egyptian ideas, well before Jesus Christ. Who, by the way sounds alot like Joseph.

The christian relegion is a pardony on the worship of the sun.

Question: Why believe it ?
It not That I am afraid, lost, upset, or scared. I am proud of my life and I am as happy as can be.
Its not right. I think it is morally sick to say another human being shall burn in hell for being gay or not believing in what you believe cause god said so.
I didnt read the rest of the commandments because I ran out of typing space.

Matt 28:20 “and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Jesus is the age of the fish. He will be there until the end of the age. The next zodiac age it the aquaris, in what 2150? The fish age ends, will god no longer be will you? That what I am getting,
