Africa (South of the Sahara Desert and North of the equator)

Africa has many serious development problems, education is one of them. The biggest problems with education in many African nations are: a lack of funding and a lack of qualified teachers. Most of the educated Africans look to Europe, The United States and other better developed areas of the world to move to, so that they can make more money and live comfortably. In Africa, millions of children don’t have the opportunity to receive any education because of the massive poverty and diseases. Pushing education would greatly…

The Human Development Index (HDI) was developed by the Pakistani economist Mahbub ul Haq. It is a measure of poverty, literacy, education, life expectancy, childbirth, and other factors for countries worldwide & is a standard means of measuring well-being.

Is it because the blind faith does not allow for rational thinking which is a must for scientific progress?
Or because of a lack of freedom in Islamic societies (innovations & inventions thrive in free…

I am doing a project with the human development annual report. I have to look at a list of data, and use it to compare how well/poor a country is doing.
Here is the list:
Population using improved sanitation
population using improved water source
population undernourished
life expectancy at birth
infant mortality rate
adult literacy rate
cellular subscribers
internet users
GDP per capita
GDP per capita annual growth rate
total population
annual population growth rate
health expenditure
physicians (per 100,000)
electricity consumption per capita
year women received right to vote
so, for example I might compare life expenditure with the population undernourished. If the country had a low life expenditure, and a high undernourished percentage… then this could…

Individual/private donations may be targeted in many ways. However, even though the charts above do show US aid to be poor (in percentage terms) compared to the rest, the generosity of the American people is far more impressive than their government. Private aid/donation typically through the charity of individual people and organizations can be weighted to certain interests and areas. Nonetheless, it is interesting to note for example, per latest estimates, Americans privately give at least $34 billion overseas—more than twice the US official foreign aid of $15 billion at that time:
International giving by US foundations: $1.5 billion per year
Charitable…

And what has secularism done to Norway? The Global Peace Index rates Norway the most peaceful country in the world. The Human Development Index, a comparative measure of life expectancy, literacy, education and standard of living, has ranked Norway No. 1 every year for the last five years.
Norway has the second highest GDP per capita in the world, an unemployment rate below 2 percent, and average hourly wages among the world’s highest.
