Any other ideas to help make the paper better would be great also, because I haven’t gotten to the rewording part yet. Thankss. :)

The Dominican Republic is a country much like our own, but with many differences. Much like the United States, a president, who is currently Leonel Fernandez Reyna, leads the Dominican Republic. Also like our country, the president and vice president are elected, and run for four-year terms. They also have their own political parties, which consist of Social Christian Reformist Party (PRSC), Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD), Dominican Liberation Party, (PLD), etc. The president and vice president are elected by people over 18 and married.
In most societies, the wealthier people have more power. In the Dominican Republic, approximately ¼ of lower-class people are unemployed. Although women find jobs more easily than men do, they are paid less, which is the reason for their attempts to escape poverty unsuccessful. The Dominican Republic has a common defense, with 44,000 active duty personnel in the military, which is authorized by Congress. The people of the Dominican Republic have religious freedom. Public education is available through high school level for free of charge except the cost of books and uniforms. All children are required to attend school at least until grade 6, although many children, (mostly girls) drop out by then.
The Dominican Republic is different from the United States in many ways. Although they are similar when it comes to the government, the people are not as free as the United States is. Also, the Dominican Republic appears to not enforce school attendance laws, which doesn’t help the literacy rate in their country, whereas here in the United States, children are required to attend school until17 (with parental consent) or 18 years of age.

What have we reaped in the way we have changed? We have spent more money than any other Nation in the industrialized world to educate our children, and yet SAT scores fell for 24 straight years before finally leveling off at the bottom, where they still are compared with others in the world in the 1990s.
In a 1960 survey 53 percent of America’s teenagers had never kissed. 57 percent said they had never necked, that is kissing and hugging, and 92 percent of teenagers in America said they were virgins in 1960.
By 1990, just 30 years later, 75 percent of American high school students are sexually active, by 18. In the next 5 years, we spent $4 billion to educate them on how to be immoral, to trumpeting the solutions of safe sex, and it worked.
One in five teenagers in America today lose their virginity before their 13th birthday. 19 percent of America’s teenagers say they have had more than four sexual partners before graduation. The result: Every day 2,700 students get pregnant, 1,100 get abortions, 1,200 give birth. Every day another 900 contract a sexually transmitted disease, many incurable.
AIDS infections among high school students climbed 700 percent between 1990 and 1995. We have 3.3 million problem drinkers in our high school campuses, over half a million alcoholics, and in any given weekend in America, 30 percent of the student population may spend some time drunk.

A local organization is championing the mass literacy campaign and are in dire need of aids and donations to sponsor orphans and homeless children in primary and secondary schools and basic career training institutes.
Thanks for your answers but I mean organizations that want to donate stuffs or want to boost their image by making a mark in Africa which has the lowest living condition in the whole wide world.

I can understand that some people are struggling with English as their second language, but that can’t be the problem with everyone.

Do our schools no longer teach the value of the English language? Is texting becoming a problem for the literacy of our children? Are video games and movies replacing reading to the detriment of our society?

As far as I’m concerned, all of the above are true, but I’d like to know what others have to say.

To do this he:

• re-creates some of his adventures in the two books named after him and demonstrates how these books
helped improve literacy in children

• re-creates a montage of dramatic images which show Dr Seuss’s fight against political, racial and social
injustice and demonstrates how he will use ‘some new tricks’ to continue the fight

• demonstrates how ‘Voom’ will help clean up US foreign policy and bring peace to world trouble spots.

Performance style: Non-naturalistic

Theatrical conventions: Heightened use of language, satire

Dramatic elements: Rhythm, contrast
