I teach ESL and have taught the literacy level (beginning level with little or no English) for 4 years. The teacher who taught the highest level inour school, intermediate high, is retiring and I can apply for the position if I want it.

My cunundrum is that I will have to leave my present class to a new teacher, and they are very attached to me. I feel as though I will be abandoning them and I am afraid that they will be angry and upset with me. This happened to me when I was in law school, and it pissed…

I want a career as a reading specialist, which requires getting a M.Ed. in Literacy or an equivalent degree. But first I need to get certified in teaching. Unfortunately I have not been enrolled in a teaching program while in undergrad (I’ll be graduating in 2010 with a BA in Religious Studies).

I know there are special graduate programs for people who have bachelor’s degrees and just want teaching certification, but how do I know if the programs I am looking at are the correct ones? Some colleges I look at have 5 different master’s of education degrees! Which one is…

This will be my first time teaching ESL overseas. Anyone have any advice? What sort of pay shoud I expect? What are common contract oversights?
