The evolution that mankind has experienced over the past decades is tremendous. If you took a minute to think about how our grandparents lived fifty years ago, and what we have now, you’d certainly realize that the improvements in our life styles are huge.
The evolution that mankind has experienced over the past decades is tremendous. If you took a minute to think about how our grandparents lived fifty years ago, and what we have now, you’d certainly realize that the improvements in our life styles are huge. One of the greatest discoveries of recent years is the Internet. This wonder of technology has done wonders for us, and continues to do so. Not only does the Internet provide us with all sorts of information that we would normally not have access to, but it also allows people from across the world to communicate and share all kinds of things as if they were in the same room.

What most of you do not know about the possibilities offered by the Internet is that you can now make money fast employing this wonderful tool. All you need is a computer and an Internet connection, and you can start making plans about where to spend your holidays, how to renovate your home, where to take your kids, or what new car to buy a couple of months from now. Many of us know how difficult it is to make ends meet, especially when you have some extra debts. Maybe the time you spend at your present job does not allow you to take a second job, so that you could earn more money. Or maybe you are satisfied with the money you’re making, but you would like to have some more time to spend with your family. Not so many people are able to earn enough money to provide their family with a decent living and, at the same time, have enough free time to engage in all sorts of leisure activities with your loved ones. Most of us have thought more than once about a way to make money fast. If you have not found a solution yet, you shouldn’t waste any more time thinking about that, and you should get to work instead. But when I say get to work, I mean spend about half an hour a day in front of your computer, just to manage your web site and make sure it functions the way you want it.

It’s understandable to be a little skeptical about the prospect of making money fast via the Internet. Perhaps you’re thinking that it’s too good to be true, or that, if it were true, everyone would quit their jobs and start making money from home. The problem is that not many people now about this, because, believe it or not, the level of computer literacy and Internet skills is still rather low across the world. Besides, people tend to be distrusting of things they cannot explain, and this is the case for many people. You stand to lose nothing. But in time you’ll see that it’s easy to make money fast from home, and you will forget all about going to work.

The Internet is also the source for many other interesting and useful tips. For instance, you can learn a lot of travel secrets that will help you travel cheaper, or pay less for your accommodation at hotels. The companies providing these services fail to mention these travel secrets, because it is not to their advantage to let you know that you could pay a lot less for your plane ticket.

Travel secrets include all sorts of information, not only about paying less for your travels, but also about what dangerous airlines to avoid, or how to get free lodging at the airline hotel.

The Internet is indeed a trustworthy source for information of all types. You can make money fats, and you can learn about useful travel secrets, but that’s not all. You can also find tips about beauty, health and fitness, relationships, hobbies, sports, gifts, etc.

Call centers in Costa Rica have been known to expand their agent capacity to a few thousand seats at certain call centers throughout Central America. Advanced and up-to-date technology has enabled call center IT departments to take advantage of call center management software ensuring complete control over the thousands of employees and their work performance. From bilingual customer service agents that enter a new order in the data base to a web designer creating your latest website, our call center management Costa Rica will be on top of every BPO campaign and outsourced project that you give to Costa Rica’s Call Center. Let our BPO call center management team take care of certain areas of your business, so that you may concentrate on other areas that require more of your time and immediate attention.

Call center managers are a special breed of business manager. Call center management Costa Rica possesses the capability to motivate and understand the demands of a Latino call center agent in Costa Rica. If a call center manager loses focus or neglects a problem area of an outsourced campaign, the results could be drastic to the client. Our Costa Rican call center management team is handpicked, carefully educated and molded into the most competent in the outsourcing industry to oversee a bilingual call center operation.

Costa Rica is a country that has produced a 90 percent literacy rate and a large hiring pool of impressive English speakers that understand and imitate the North American culture. Our Costa Rican call center managers take the time to make every bilingual call center agent understand the importance of call center career development and promotion within Costa Rica’s Call Center. This particular mind set will increase the positive results to your company’s outsourcing campaign for long term results.

Call center management Costa Rica have mostly been bilingual call center agents at one time in the past for other Costa Rican call centers. Most of our call center managers at Costa Rica’s Call Center are promoted from within our call center organization after an impressive campaign as an agent or have been highly recommended by other successful BPO call centers in Costa Rica.

By having the experience of outbound telemarketing or handling a rude customer on an inbound customer service call, call center management Costa Rica will understand what it takes to successfully handle eight hours on the phone and indentify the signs of call center agent burn out. Call centers managers at Costa Rica’s Call Center are able to share their call center success stories to the new hires or are able to lend a hand with a good rebuttal and rhetoric when an established call center agent may need additional phone skill advice. There are no better call center management teams in Costa Rica to help a bilingual call center agent’s career development within the outsourcing industry than Costa Rica’s Call Center.

Call center management Costa Rica requires people skills and organizational acumen. All bilingual call center managers must keep employees motivated in a fast paced job while maintaining first class customer service quality and accurate staffing levels for the clients to ensure the outsourced campaign functions properly. The main goal for a call center manager is to concentrate on keeping the call center agents happy and productive. Call center management Costa Rica stresses the fair and respectful treatment to their agents while listening to their ideas for greater participation and loyalty to the BPO campaign. Costa Rican call center managers never discourage creativity and provide an attractive incentive package for the call center agents that will reward performance.

Call center management Costa Rica organizes ongoing training by sitting with the hired bilingual call center agents periodically in order to listen to calls and discuss the strong points of the conversation while lending advice for areas of improvement. Bilingual call center agents must understand and discover what transpires in conversations to convert a client into a sale or make a customer satisfied, not just what managers think should be said in order to keep a job at a call center. An easy way to manage a call center is to monitor service levels and abandon rates of the agents. Outsourcing Companies will clearly define to the call center what service level is appropriate for their business and ensure that it can be met in order to be successful. Correct call center staffing levels are vital as well to ensure proper support to the BPO campaign.

In today’s highly competitive outsourcing market, a closer proximity to the United States , Central Time Zone and Spanish language capability as an added value are now considered almost basic requirements when making a decision on what call center to use for your important project. Leaving this to chance is not even an option anymore. Many of the offshore call center agents are bilingual in their native Middle Eastern or Asian language which is difficult to the North American ear. Whereas Spanish is more useful and practical as a second language for potential untapped markets throughout the North, Central and South American populations as well as those countries where Spanish is either a primary or secondary language.

We encourage you to visit one of our call centers on your next personal vacation or business trip to Central America’s paradise, Costa Rica. While you are here, we would recommend taking an extra day of your trip to visit breathtaking virgin beaches, play golf next to the ocean, try your luck at deep sea fishing, explore tropical jungles, climb a volcano or just relax in natural hot springs. Come and see for yourself why call center outsourcing in Costa Rica is a perfect solution for your growing company and a powerhouse in the BPO industry.

When I first became a trainer many years ago, I worked myself up about whether my trainees were learning anything useful, whether I was using the right approach, and so on. And these were fair questions to ask, as any trainer worth their salt will reflect critically on their own practice. After working with a number of organizations as both an internal trainer and external consultant, I began to condense all of the lessons I learned along the way into the five “rights” of training.

I see these “rights” as the basic requirements that need to be satisfied for a training…

I see these “rights” as the basic requirements that need to be satisfied for a training program to have a real and positive impact on an organization. As you read my description for each, consider how the training you design and deliver is meeting these necessary elements. These five “rights” are:

1. Right Trainees
2. Right Learning
3. Right Time
4. Right Method
5. Right Environment

1. Right Trainees

-employees genuinely requiring skill development are nominated for training

There is no point wasting employees’ time and your organization’s resources shuffling people into a training room or making them complete on-line modules if training will not help them perform any better. Conduct a proper training needs analysis up front and only prescribe training where imparting new skills and knowledge will help lift performance. Be especially wary of managers that see every performance problem as an opportunity to put people in front of a trainer. During your performance diagnosis phase, get managers to appreciate that a performance shortfall can occur for a variety of reasons. When an employee does not do as their manager expects, it may be because they:

a) don’t know it’s expected
b) think they’re already doing it
c) don’t want to do it
d) can’t do it
e) don’t know how to do it

Training will only help where all or part of the performance shortfall is because of reason e) above. Use the employee performance diagnostic flowchart at www.businessperform.com/html/poor_employee_performance.html to help you and your managers determine the reasons for poor performance. Try also to avoid the waste that comes with resorting to a “scattergun” approach”. Some managers feel that because James and Judy require training in handling difficult customers, it’s an even better idea to subject the whole department to the same training. Not only can these resources be better used elsewhere, employees will resent having their time wasted on useless training.

2. Right Learning

-program content and activities closely match organization and learner objectives

Get to the heart of what problem or opportunity your organization wants training to assist with. And then design the learning to match those objectives. Don’t fall into the trap of asking supervisors or employees what training they would like. This approach more often than not misses the real business needs and is typically the result of superficial performance appraisal discussions and employee surveys. Trainers then find that the “smorgasbord” of training programs they present in the annual training calendar has few takers as employees find work priorities taking precedence over “discretionary” learning.

In addition, with no clear learning objectives tied to organizational imperatives, the temptation is to fill out training programs with all kinds of superfluous content and exercises. Focus on the “must haves” for the program to meet the organization’s goals. With the time that you have left over, include the “nice to haves”.

3. Right Time

-training is neither delivered too early nor too late

There is a window of opportunity in which to teach employees new skills. Miss that window and the training will be nowhere near as effective. If the training is conducted too early before the new systems are implemented in their workplace, when they return they will have limited opportunity to practice their new skills. Without repeated application on the job, they will quickly forget what they had learned.

Conversely, if the training is conducted too late, they are at risk of picking up or continuing wrong behaviors. Not only can this lead to costly mistakes, it will take a lot more time and resources to correct such bad habits once they become ingrained. Delivering the training in a timely manner is also important for maintaining employee morale and efficiency. If new systems are implemented that leave employees floundering without the right skills, they are more likely to become disengaged or to leave the organization altogether.

4. Right Method

-methods and delivery modes match learning objectives and learner preferences

Use established training methods that are guaranteed to aid learning. Depending on the subject matter, start with simple concepts and activities, building up to the more complex. Or begin with an overview of the subject before delving into the detail. Likewise, chunk the content into easily digestible portions that make sense to the learners.

Pacing is also important, allowing time between chunks for assimilation and practice. The opportunity to practice is critical to mastering new skills, so make sure that your practice sessions are not treated as a short addendum to the program. Where there are budget or time constraints, avoid the pressure to cut back on opportunities for trainees to apply the new skills.

Consider the learning styles of your particular trainees. However, do not go overboard and eliminate all ways of learning bar one or two. A group of engineers may prefer a lot of theory presented verbally and in writing. Lectures with an abundance of supplementary reading may be the dominant choices here. This approach may not suit a more tactile group that prefers to learn through trail and error. Using a problem-based approach to learning may work better for this group.

The characteristics of the group should also influence the media you use to deliver the content and facilitate the activities. Using reading lists of books and other resources will not work well with trainees with low literacy skills. Similarly, delivering content and facilitating chat room discussions over the internet with trainees not versed in these technologies will prove to be a frustrating learning experience for them. Live demonstrations and audio or video tape recordings will be a better match here. Weigh all of these factors into the design of your training programs.

5. Right Environment

-training and workplace settings are optimized for learning and later training transfer

If trainees are physically uncomfortable, their learning will be hindered. Make sure that the training room is sufficiently lit, the room is not too hot or too cold, seats are comfortable, trainees are given sufficient breaks and the seating arrangement allows for optimal interaction between trainees and trainer.

Just as important for good learning outcomes is the emotional environment. Set the conditions for interpersonal relationships that foster learning by encouraging trainees to take risks and respect differences. Prompt lots of questions and encourage discussions that allow participants to learn from each other.

What happens before the trainee begins the training and after they return to their workplace will largely determine the impact of your training program. Workplace environment factors that you will need to design into your program include ensuring ongoing and visible support from the trainees’ managers and supervisors and meaningful rewards that encourage the application of the new skills on the job. Other factors include the provision of on-the-job support in the form of job aids and coaching from recognized experts.

How many of the five “rights” do you firmly have under your belt? How many could do with some attention? Find yourself a mentor that can help you identify your strengths and your greatest opportunities for improvement. If you have a college in your local area, enroll in a beginning trainer’s course or take the next level up. Make sure you write out an improvement plan with your action items so that you can compare your capability in six month’s time. Be proud of your achievements as you hold a pivotal role in your workplace. Organizations can only get things done and goals achieved through the efforts of people exercising the right skills. Without skill developers such as yourself, organizations would stand still. I wish you well on your journey.

As summer vacation goes to the end, the new semester begins. Kids should go back to school. Through the long holiday, they would miss each other very much. Thus, it would be a wonderful idea for teachers to hold a story-telling class. Teachers can ask students to collect their summer vacation stories and make into story slideshows by themselves, and then show the story with others. It is good for improving the relationship among students and also cultivating their various interests, broadening their view sights.

Besides, it is a fun way to integrate literacy and technology into the multimedia classroom. The following are the steps on how teachers to hold such an activity.

1. Ask students prepare the story slideshow

Step 1: Choose tool and prepare resources

A computer with Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 or any other early versions installed.

As a teacher, you can also provide your kids with some stunning PowerPoint templates. You can find some educational PowerPoint templates from the link below.

http://www.ppt2dvd.com/freetemplates/free-education-powerpoint-templates.html#149

Step 2: Create a story slideshow

Part I -Prepare Slides

Help each student to create an about 5 slides story PowerPoint slideshow with some interesting and special things happened during their summer vacation.

Part II – Import the photos and add descriptions

When students begin to import the photos to the presentation, you can help them to edit photo shapes in PowerPoint to make their photos look more beautiful and perfect. Please follow the simple steps below: Open PowerPoint 2007 -> Insert -> Images -> Choose photos. Then double click a photo, you can see the Picture Tools options in the tool bar. With it, you can get any picture style or shape you want because more than a hundred shapes are provided here. Comparing with other photo editing tools, I think PowerPoint editor is really convenient and easy-to-use. When you settle down the issue of photo edition, now you can help them to add some descriptions to their story slideshows.

2. Students share story slideshows one by one in story-telling class

When slideshows are completed, now it is the time for children to share their story slideshows in story-telling class. It is a good way to develop the skills of telling story for children to share story slideshow in the front of classmates. Here are some points you can remind children to pay more attention to while sharing story slideshows.

• Don’t stare at the story slideshow all the time, just recite all the information from memory.

• Ask some questions to attract the attention of your classmates. When they give a correct answer to your question you presented, they can win a piece of candy or something else. It is a good way to ask them to interactive with you.

• Be self-confident while speaking. Don’t talk monotonously like Ben Stein, have some flare.

• Put some comedic relief into your story slideshow to relieve a little bit of the boredom, maybe something tiny about half-way through the story slideshow.

3. Teachers integrate all story slideshows to one back-to-school slideshow

After the story-telling class, you can integrate all story slideshows to one back-to-school slideshow as a souvenir. Following are some advices for you to create a back-to-school slideshow.

•Prepare a wonderful introduction and ending for the back-to-school slideshow. In addition, you can add some good wishes or new semester goals for children.

•Choose an appropriate song for the back-to-school slideshow.

4. Enjoy the back-to-school slideshow together

Now you can enjoy the back-to-school slideshow with your students together through the Projector. Furthermore, if you want to distribute it to your kids and even to the ones who do not have computers, and also want to share it with your friends or put it online, you can convert slideshow to video with the help of Wondershare PPT to Video or Convert Slideshow to DVD to view slideshow on TV with your family members.

If you are a teacher, you can get all PowerPoint conversion programs with 40% discount during our Back to School Offer. Please feel free to contact us.

Enjoy it and wish you have a good beginning of the new semester.

If you’ve seen ads saying ‘Tutors needed’ but haven’t taken much notice, think again. You might be surprised to realize that there are tutors wanted in all sorts of subjects. You might be just the person for the job.

If you’re considering becoming a tutor for the first time, then you will need to think through what is involved. What makes a good tutor? The answer is a range of skills, as well as a commitment to education and your subject. The successful applicant to that ‘Tutor needed ad will have that commitment, as well as the dedication to work on their skills on an ongoing basis. A good tutor will have these important attributes:

°   Excellent knowledge of your subject. Note that there are tutors needed in a variety of subjects, including leisure activities and hobbies. Online tutoring isn’t confined to the school curriculum. Whether you’re equipped to teach calculus or cake decoration, the same principles apply. Good tutors have a deep understanding of their subject that goes beyond the core facts. That larger ‘feel’ for a subject goes a long way if you want to be an effective tutor.
°   Communication and people skills. You may have a passion for your subject but the relationship between tutor and learner (whether that’s face to face or online) makes a huge difference. That means listening skills, empathy, and patience.
°   An appreciation of learning processes. Some of us are natural-born teachers, who don’t need a degree in educational psychology to be effective. But any teacher will benefit from keeping up to speed with understanding learning styles, teaching methods and techniques. If a student’s progress is unsatisfactory you need to be able to try other avenues, tailored to the individual learner’s needs.
°   A grasp of the opportunities that online learning offers, including a degree of computer literacy. You don’t have to be a computer nerd, by any means, but a good tutors will capitalise on the new ways of learning that interactive internet technologies have made possible.

Every good tutor needs certain personal qualities: enthusiasm, dependability and integrity. Know your strengths. If you know instinctively that you have a flair for mentoring learners but you don’t think you have anything to offer, think again. You may well find a niche that’s right for you. If you lack the subject experience to teach academic subjects, remember that people seek instruction in all sorts of non-academic subjects, including practical business skills, hobbies, parenting, foreign languages, and more besides. You might find a home in adult education, rather than teaching school-age learners.

If you have expertise in one of many hundreds of subjects, and are willing to put effort into passing that knowledge on, then register at tutoringservices.com, our Tutors Needed service could signal a new career direction. It’s a rewarding way of earning, with the satisfaction that you are helping learners realise their potential.

Singapore is well known around the world as a multicultural, multi religious and multi racial harmonious island food paradise. Starting as a quiet, laid back fishing village, Singapore has grown exponentially to become of the most densely populated country in the world with a population of 4.8million living closely together in a land area of 224.5 square miles. Singapore has also become the richest country in South East Asia and one of the most developed countries in the world. It is no surprise then that Singapore has attracted various organisations ranging from the Fortune 500 companies, small and medium enterprises, educational institutions to news bureaus to form their place in Singapore’s business landscape. So why follow the footsteps of those who have established successful businesses? Why set up your business in Singapore? Why Singapore?

Here is Rikvin’s Top 3 reason why Singapore is a great place to set up your business.

A Favourable Business Climate

According to the Ministry of Trade & Industry (MTI), there is an estimated 6,000 Multi National Corporations (MNCs) in Singapore. Many of these MNCs have chosen Singapore as the prime location of their Asia Pacific headquarters due to its positive business climate. For example, the World Bank’s Doing Business 2009 Report ranked Singapore as the world’s easiest place to do business, ahead of New Zealand, United States and Singapore’s closest competitor, Hong Kong. The EIU Country Forecast published in February 2008 also rated Singapore as having the best business environment in Asia Pacific and third in the world. These rankings by independent bodies are reflective of the Singapore Government’s efforts in providing efficient public sector services that support the private sector growth.

World Class Transportation System

Singapore’s Changi International Airport has three heavily used terminals serving over 80 international airlines flying to more than 190 cities in 160 countries. Changi International Airport also handles more than 4,500 arrivals and departures weekly, 37.7 million passengers and 1.85million tonnes of air freight in 2008.

With the high cost of owning private transportation, public transportation is efficient, frequent and spans every far reaching corner of the island. Singaporeans flock to the 70 railway stations of the Singapore’s Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system which has a daily ridership of 1.564 million. The two public bus companies with a fleet of 3,600 single and double decker air-conditioned buses transport nearly 3.12 million daily passenger trips safely to 295 routes islandwide.

Highly Educated Workforce

Singapore boasts one of the most educated workforces in the world. Literacy rate stands at a formidable 96%. 89.6% of resident non students aged 25-39 have secondary or higher qualifications. A further significant testament to the huge importance placed on education, the Singapore Government invested S$7,298.1 million in education in 2008. This comes up to 25.5% of total government operating expenditure, making education the second highest expenditure after security and defence. In addition, Singapore’s two long established universities, the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) also rank favourably on various university ranking surveys.

India and China: An Economic Comparison

India and China are the world’s next major powers. And in a global economy, affected by the financial crisis, where most advanced countries are slumped into recession, India and China are growing. In a PPT India and China it has statistically compared the economies and industries between these two countries.

Both the countries have an important role to play in the world economy, with China embracing private entrepreneurship and India facilitating globalization within its economy.

Growth of the Indian and Chinese Economies

Both India and China have registered strong economic growth since 1980 and opening up to international trade and capital. The Indian and Chinese economies have benefited from FDIs that have provided new goods and services and therefore a spurt in industrial growth. The Chinese and the Indian economies rank number 1 and 2 respectively as the fastest growing economies in the world.

But the growth of the Chinese economy has been more spectacular than India and China today has surpassed India on the more important economic and welfare indices. China’s per capita GDP growth has averaged 8% since 1980, which is double that of India’s per capita GDP growth rate. The Chinese economy is much larger than the Indian economy and labor-intensive manufacture exports contribute almost 40% to the Chinese GDP compared to only 16% in India.

Welfare Indicators of India and China

As compared to India, China also scores higher on welfare indicators such as living standards, poverty ration, female adult literacy and life expectancy by a wide margin.

Since 1990, China has tripled per capita income and has eased 300 million out of poverty. While India still presents a picture of extreme poverty, Indians are playing invaluable roles in the research and development centers of global tech giants, sprouting all over India.
For years self dubbed tree huggers have been publicizing the world’s need to go green in order to protect the planet from harmful chemicals that could potentially impact the environment. Now it seems you can’t open a magazine or turn on the TV without seeing news about how to go green. Even celebrities have joined the cause with fundraisers and eco-friendly clothing lines. The go green movement has grown to the point that now you can go online and find laptops that are safer for the environment.

The Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) has rated almost 300 laptops in an effort to give the public a place to find environmentally friendly laptops. EPEAT has a list of requirements that notebooks must meet in order to receive either their bronze, silver, or gold seal. According to their website bronze is awarded to laptops that meet all their required criteria, whereas silver means a notebook met all their criteria in addition to half the optional criteria they have for laptop computers. For gold, the product must meet all criteria as well as 75% of all their optional criteria for an eco-friendlier product.

According to the Environmental News Network (ENN) among the greener laptops reported through EPEAT, they favor the Lenovo Thinkpad X300, Toshiba Portege R500-S5007V, HP 2710p Tablet Computer, and the Apple MacBook Air.

On ENN’s news website they chose these laptops for their gold seal from EPEAT as well as for the efforts Lenovo, Toshiba, HP, and Apple went through in order to decrease hazardous chemicals in their notebooks. The Lenovo Thinkpad X300 has mecury-free LEDs in the monitor, contains an energy efficient processor, and their packaging materials are 90% recyclable. These were big pluses for ENN.

The Toshiba Portege R500-S5007V among other Toshiba notebooks has introduced alternatives to phthalates and other hazardous chemicals. The HP 2710p Tablet Computer is also energy efficient. In addition HP has said they would try to eliminate hazardous chemicals from their laptops including PVC. Finally the Apple MacBook Air contains an LCD screen that is mercury as well as arsenic-free. The laptop has an aluminum case that is recyclable and has PVC free components.

Several other laptop models including some Dell Latitudes, Toshiba Tecra’s, and HP Elitebook laptop models made the list.

It looks like going green has gone beyond media attention and into our electronics. Going green has moved beyond a trend and is turning into a lifestyle.

The goal of many laptop computer companies is to create a laptop that costs only $100. The purpose of this goal is to offer a less expensive laptop option for developing countries. Keeping the price at $100 would help developing countries expand their school curriculum and offer the opportunity to raise their status in the world. Recently, Gartner, Inc., an analyst group announced that though this dream of the $100 laptop is nice, it may not happen in the near future.

According to Gartner the cost of creating, packaging, shipping, and of maintaining permanent technical support makes it nearly impossible to achieve the goal of offering a laptop for such a low price. In their announcement analysts also mentioned other concerns.

Annett Jump on a press release on Gartner’s website stated that, “The economic benefits of IT literacy in emerging markets are currently driving the push for the $100 PC but there are many open questions that remain…These include determining the relevant hardware specifications, power availability, availability and cost of Internet connection, as well as providing adequate finance and payment options for emerging markets where funds may well be extremely limited.”

With such a great goal, it is of little wonder that the push for a cheap laptop is the top goal for many laptop companies. This goal is one that Gartner doesn’t deny is worthwhile; however, their main point is that there are more factors to consider for this cheap laptop including what specific curriculum needs are present in the different countries they will service as well as who will train teachers to incorporate this new technology into their daily routine.

So, when does Gartner believe the laptop industry will achieve this inexpensive laptop? According to their publication, it’s at least two to three years away. Although hardware has gotten cheaper and will most likely continue to get cheaper, things such as hardware and technical support are likely to stay at the same price. Until these additional factors become cheaper Gartner believes that $100 is far too low a goal. Currently laptop manufacturers have been able to reduce costs to between $150 and $250.

What Gartner believes will emerge as a more lucrative and expanding market is the mini-notebook sector. Jump was quoted as stating, “We expect to see increased product innovation in the PC market during the next few years…Mini-notebooks will create opportunities to reach many buyers across all regions, both in mature markets as additional devices, and in emerging markets as PCs.”

Maybe $100 for a laptop is just a dream, but it’s not a dream that won’t come true. This goal just needs to be refined a little more before it goes from dream/goal to reality.

Laptop computers are increasingly becoming more popular. There has even been data supporting the idea that laptops will eventually overtake desktops in sales. With increasing popularity comes a surge in laptop sales.

In a recent report from DisplaySearch Data, laptop companies displayed growth in sales. According to the report the top 5 laptop manufacturers are HP (Hewlett-Packard), Dell, Acer, Toshiba, and Lenovo. These companies have consistently stayed at or near the top for years.

Several of these companies showed growth; however, the most startling growth came from Apple. Apple notebook sales saw a 61% gain in sales. This gain bumped them up and into the #7 spot for leading laptop manufacturers.

Although Apple laptop sales are impressive, the big question is can they break the top 5? Apple’s sales volume is lower than those in the top 5. However, if they continue to make significant increases they may be known for more than just the iPod or iPhone.

There are many reasons why Apple laptops may be gaining popularity. One reason could be the popularity of the iPod and iPhone. Satisfying consumers with one product can convince them to purchase others from the same manufacturer.

Only time will tell whether or not Apple will gain more momentum and reach the #5 spot.

However, Dyslexia is no joke!

Almost everybody accepts Dyslexia as a term that indicates a problem with learning. There is not a precise definition, but it is widely accepted that it is a learning disorder.

Whilst for a long time, Dyslexia has been known as a learning difficulty that primarily affects literacy skills, researchers and professionals working with dyslexia suggest that it is less a disorder and more a sign of specially gifted people.

It is most certain that you have heard the question; “Why is Dyslexia such a hard word to spell?”

Dyslexia is a disability, not an illness. It can be coped with, but not cured. It is a form of learning disability that is neurological in origin.

Dyslexia can affect people in different ways, for some they may only have a problem with spelling. Others may have difficulty spelling, reading and writing. One typical example is the child (more often male) who has a bit of trouble with reading, writing and spelling at the start of Primary school.

Dyslexia is characterised with having trouble processing word-sounds and a deficiency in short-term verbal memory. The effects may be seen in both the spoken and the written language. Current evidence suggests that these difficulties arise from inefficiencies in language-processing areas. Located in the left hemisphere of the brain, they seem to be linked to genetic differences.

Dyslexia can be a serious problem if not addressed properly and the development of a child can be significantly hampered. When that happens, their future lives may be affected negatively. Therefore, the need for training cannot be over emphasised!

Unfortunately, Dyslexia is highly resistant to conventional methods of teaching. The most effective instructional methods use counselling and recent advances in technology. Dyslexia is not caused by inadequate teaching, however, if teaching is poor then this will undoubtedly increase the problem.

Dyslexia is strongly hereditary, just like whether you are right or left handed. It is understood that Dyslexia is more common in people who are neither strongly right handed or left handed.

Dyslexia is recognised under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995. Compliance with the act places responsibility on employers to provide access to premises and services by all employees and customers. Employers also have a responsibility to make reasonable adjustments for disabled staff.

Although Dyslexia is a life-long disability, with the correct systems in position it does not need to build barriers. It is possible for those that struggle to learn to cope with and overcome their difficulties. For example, Dyslexia did not hold back the children’s book author, Cedric Hurtt. “His books sit on the shelves of local bookstores and are candy for word hungry children.” [http://www.dyslexia-teacher.com/t129.html]

Sixty years young India, having a GDP that is touching 9%, is tomorrow’s economic superpower. With all its companies doing decently well, the Indian Share Market has become a hot and favorite destination of investors. Liberal economic policies, an ever-growing GDP, and relatively less competition (relatively less because India, unlike the established markets of USA/Japan, is still in its infancy) – all these factors are driving the potential investors our way.

But these factors are certainly not the ONLY factors responsible for the sudden boom in the number of NRI investors in the Share Market of India. There are other factors…

There are other factors as well that has given big reasons to NRIs to start investing in India, and through this article we intend to put some light on the available investment opportunities in India or some best investing options in India available to NRIs, PIOs & OCIs. While stating all may be beyond us and next to impossible (partly because there ARE so many factors involved!) we have tried our best to highlight a few below.

India is synonymous with the word “resilience”. The people are pliant in catastrophe and so is the Indian market. While the world was contemplating the US Market, India, after initial jitters, was back on her feet soon. This is because the Indian market, still in its early years, has not, unlike the American Market, become an umbrella market taking all the major economies in its fold. Investors are still coming in in this growing market. The resilience is mirrored in the fact that since the reformed economic policies of 1991, the economic growth rate has reached new heights. While political power in Delhi changed hands constantly resulting in diverse economic policies, the market did not, even once, even stumble, let alone collapse! Moreover, as India is becoming young day-by-day (and so is the Share Market) we hope and expect the economy to perform even better.

Secondly, since our current PM and the then Finance Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh liberalized the economy, the two sectors that were somewhat left unattended were those of agriculture and infrastructure. But there is good news. For about two-three years now, these sectors have been given their due recognition. This, our experts at NriInvestIndia.com, hope will boost our economy a great deal. While the results are yet to be seen (we hope to see them in a couple of years from now) we are confident that the impact will be huge. Paying more attention to these two fields implies increase in production and consequently, consumption (India is also home to many poor). This will obviously lead to better standard of life and higher income levels for the Indian masses. And guess what? Higher income level means more investment and more money to be made.

Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) has proved to be a boon for the Indian economy. While the inflow of FDI has become less in the recent times, they continue benefiting us immensely. India is still a developing country and a country of many needs. FDI helps us fulfill our wants as it not only augments capital, it also brings with it better (or perhaps, the best) technology, products, services etc. It also creates scope for employment. This, of course, as mentioned earlier, leads to greater productivity and competitiveness, which in turn results in better standard of living, higher income levels and more investments.

We are sure all of you must have heard of BPO – Business Process Outsourcing. A growing fad in India, BPO is, in general, considered to be a call centre. But there is more to this global outsourcing boom than just BPO. These include research and development, manufacturing of various automobile parts etc. And this is primarily due to the increase in the confidence (of the world) in India’s skilled labour and its abilities. Again, as is the case with increased attention to agriculture and infrastructure, and FDI, outsourcing is people-oriented, resulting in better living standard, raised income and higher investments.

Fifthly, India has a strong domestic consumption level. Since majority of the Indian masses come in the “working class” category, they are surely profiting from better (and higher) pay-cheques. According to McKinsey, a consulting firm, the number of households having an average annual income of US$ 10000 is increasing by 20% per annum. The corporate world has emerged as one of the strongest industries. It is said that the Indian economy is all set to benefit in the long run from the nurturing affluence and the willingness to spend of the Indian masses.

Last, but not the least, all the reasons mentioned above will not be as worthwhile if the market is not regulated well. Fortunately, for India, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), along with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), regulate the market ably. Be it anything of Indian stock markets: mutual funds, Indian stocks, NRI demat accounts deposits or life insurance, the Indian Share Market has arrived on the global platform. Redressal measures, innumerable choices, no major liquidity concern for the investors and better investment opportunity – all these combined have made India a favorite amongst all. But, having said so, we would also like to inform all of you that like any other market, the Indian Share Market also has its share of ups and downs. While you can minimize your risk by heeding to the advice of a financer, you cannot completely overcome the same.

Thus, all the above dynamics, amongst many more, together, along with the fact that India is the tenth largest economy in the world and fourth largest in terms of PPP (Purchasing Power Parity), have made India a potential destination for NRI. Miscellaneous, but no less important, factors like manpower, literacy level, some of the best educational institutions, strategic location etc adds fuel to the fire. The credibility of India lies in the fact that India has never defaulted from international financial obligations. Small-scale industries and strong English language base have helped India. A recent World Bank report has predicted that Indian economy will become one of the strongest by 2050 A.D.
