I think you’re right, I think they just want those employees to feel better about their job, instead of giving them a name badge that just says “worker” or “clerk”. :)
well,I have seen that all workers at Sears and Home Depot are called associates, and they don’t own part of the store. I guest they just want to stimulate their workers with a fancy name, or could it be that language changes with the time.
