I’m in the Buffalo, NY area–very blue collar. I have a BA and MSEd and am tenured and permanently certified in NY state to teach English 7-12 and reading and literacy k-12.

Call some local tutoring companies as if you were a parent and ask. Also, contact any local college/university and see whether they have a listing of what students are charging. Check the local newspaper for tutors listing themselves. The best way to know for sure is to find people who are already doing it in your area.
I don’t know your area, but it could be anywhere from $25/hr to $50/hr if you’re only tutoring school subjects. If you were tutoring for the SAT, then add as much as 50%.
Network with other similar tutors to share experience on rates etc. Go to site where many high school tutors: http://www.tuitionplaza.com/tutoring/
You are in New York, so the situation may be different; however, the going rate for tutors who are teachers in the Palos Verdes, California area, is $65 an hour. Some private tutors charge between $75-100 and hour. Hope this helps.

Now high school English enough i think give some practise required.
I am in high school and currently have tutors. I go to a building for tutors, so you should look up some tutoring sites and apply for a job there. My private tutor is $200 a month for an hour a week.
Many students in high schools need tutors to get good grades or universities so you will most likely get hired.
