With today’s launch of TeacherVision U.K. (http://www.teachervision.fen.com/), teachers in the United Kingdom (U.K.) can now save time and find thousands of printables and resources specifically for their classrooms. This new version of the Internet’s most popular teacher site for trusted online tools features a 2009 Educators’ Calendar for U.K. Teachers, customised to reflect events and holidays important to teachers and pupils in the British Isles, as well as teaching resources for U.K. nursery to Key Stage 5 classrooms. Each day, the site’s main page highlights noteworthy events in the history of the U.K. that can be used to spark interest and creativity for pupils.

“We developed this customised version of TeacherVision for the U.K. in response to numerous requests from British teachers to make the popular site even more valuable for their classrooms by offering resources targeted specifically at their traditions, history and holidays,” said Jess M. Brallier, publisher, TeacherVision. “Now when they visit TeacherVision U.K., teachers will find that the calendar, lesson plans, quizzes and other resources feature topics that can be easily integrated into instruction.”

The site’s Educators’ Calendar for U.K. Teachers includes educational activities for every day of the year that are sure to ignite pupils’ interests, creativity and learning. For example, in October teachers are treated to a wide variety of resources for celebrating Halloween. With TeacherVision U.K.’s lesson plans, printables and resources, students can explore the literature, customs and history of the holiday. The site’s cross-curricular materials include costume materials, printable Halloween masks, counting activities and vocabulary lessons for integrating Halloween into learning across the curriculum at all grade levels.

The site also includes many printable quizzes on topics of regional interest, such as the rules and history of football, one of the most popular sports in the U.K. Or teachers can test their pupils’ knowledge of the history and traditions of one of the U.K.’s favorite holidays with the Boxing Day Quiz Printable.

Quizzes on historical topics include the British Naval Battles Quiz Printable, which tests students’ knowledge of famous battles involving the British Navy, and a special quiz on Remembrance Day will help students reflect on why the U.K. honors its veterans on Nov. 8. Essay topics are also specific to the U.K. In one activity, teachers discuss capital punishment with their pupils and then have them write about the U.K.’s abolition of the death penalty.

Bulletin board ideas, lesson plans and classroom management resources have also all been customised so that U.K. teachers can quickly and easily use these TeacherVision materials with their pupils.
