I’m currently in college right now and I’ve decided that I want to become an ESL teacher with a major in Linguistics. I’m interested in finding an internship or volunteer work so I can gain some experience teaching ESL before I get my degree (which will be a while since I have a long way to go). What do I need to do to find something like that? Would asking a counselor at my school be of any use?

Where are you?
In the States you could volunteer at a community college. Check out local organisations which deal with refugees or newly arrived immigrants to your area and offer your services there.
What you should *not* do is pay anyone to find you work overseas for a few months. This is strongly discouraged in the industry for a number of reasons.
I’ve posted your question via twitter – hopefully you’ll get some responses. Good luck.
